Ensure a successful product before building a single thing! Model the physical system of your product/idea and run the appropriate physics simulation on the model to gain insight into how the system behaves before building a prototype. This step usually reveals some very important issues and a path forward that could cost a lot of manpower in trial-and-error to find out.
